Weather conditions will really vary across the region tomorrow, with mild temperatures in Deep Southwestern Ontario and snow in Eastern Ontario.
Freezing Rain Warnings and Special Weather Statements have been issued for portions of Central and Eastern Ontario. Freezing rain or drizzle is expected to begin in the morning and continue through much of the day, before moving into Far Eastern Ontario later tomorrow evening. Be aware of icy conditions on roadways and sidewalks through the day tomorrow, as well as tomorrow night into Tuesday. Freezing rain may mix with ice pellets at times.
In addition to the freezing rain, wind gusts up to 50 km/h are possible across much of the region tomorrow. These wind gusts combined with the ice accretion can cause branches to fall and lead to power outages.
Snowfall is expected in areas of Central and Eastern Ontario as well, including Huntsville, Bancroft and Ottawa. Snowfall amounts up to 5 centimetres are expected. Some slippery travel is the main concern. Snow may mix with ice pellets at times.
And to top it all off, rain is expected for Southwestern and Midwestern Ontario through the day. Rainfall amounts of 10 to 15 millimetres are expected.
As if this system isn't enough, we are watching another system for mid-week! The exact track of this system remains uncertain, meaning it may miss the area or bring additional snowfall. We will be monitoring this, stay tuned for further updates. Regardless of the track, it appears that cooler temperatures will move in on Wednesday, bringing lake effect snow through to Friday.
