Elevated Severe Weather Risk for Southern Ontario Sunday


There will be an Elevated risk for severe weather this afternoon and evening across much of the region. Eastern Ontario will see a low risk for severe weather.


Showers and thunderstorms are expected to develop this afternoon and evening, and may turn strong to severe quickly. In the most affected areas, threats will include heavy rainfall of 40 to 60 mm with the potential for flash flooding, the risk for an isolated tornado, wind gusts of 100 km/h or greater, and hail 2 to 3 cm in diameter.


Elevated Risk

Locations: Barrie, Barry's Bay, Brantford, Burlington, Chatham, Collingwood, Goderich, Grand Bend, Haliburton, Hamilton, Hanover, Huntsville, Kincardine, Kitchener, Leamington, London, Midland, Mississauga, Niagara Falls, Orillia, Oshawa, Owen Sound, Parry Sound, Pembroke, Port Colborne, Renfrew, Sarnia, Simcoe, St. Catharines, St. Thomas, Stratford, Tobermory, Toronto, Wallaceburg and Windsor.

Threats: Heavy rainfall of 40 to 60 mm with the potential for flash flooding, the risk for an isolated tornado, wind gusts of 100 km/h or greater, and hail 2 to 3 cm in diameter.


Low Risk

Locations: Belleville, Brockville, Cornwall, Franktown, Hawkesbury, Kingston, Ottawa and Prince Edward.

Threats: Heavy rainfall, wind gusts of 90 km/h and a low risk for hail.
