FUTUREVIEW: Frigid Temperatures Expected Next Week

As we look ahead to next week, it appears that we will be getting into some of the coldest air we have seen this winter so far. Some "warmer" conditions will move into the area for Friday and Saturday, with high temperatures near -2ºC and 2ºC, respectively. By the time Sunday comes around, some cooler air will move in once again, with daytime highs between -7ºC and -12ºC across the region, which hasn't been uncommon for this winter thus far.

A blast of arctic air will really begin moving in by Monday morning, likely lasting through much of the week.

By the time we approach Monday morning, air temperatures are expected to approach -20ºC for many areas, with some northern areas such as Algonquin Park possibly falling below -25ºC. Areas near the lakes may see some moderation due to low ice cover on the lakes. During this time, wind chills are expected to be near -25ºC to -30ºC.

By Monday afternoon, there will be little relief from the cold as air temperatures will be near -15ºC to -20ºC across the region. Wind chills will remain near -25ºC for many areas, with the potential for colder wind chills.

Tuesday morning may bring the coldest temperatures for this event, with many areas seeing air temperatures below -20ºC, with wind chills likely near -30ºC during this time.

Some uncertainty does still remain at this time as we are many days out, however confidence is high in cold temperatures at this time - confidence is lower in exactly how cold the temperatures will be.

Ensure you have your winter gear ready and be ready to bundle up next week, especially in the mornings!
