Low Severe Risk Monday


There will be a Low risk for severe weather this afternoon and evening in parts of Southwestern and Midwestern Ontario.


The environment is expected to become favourable for severe thunderstorms to develop this afternoon and evening, however the amount of storms is expected to be limited. The main threats will be rainfall of 20 to 40 mm, a low risk for an isolated tornado, wind gusts up to 90 km/h, and hail 1 to 2 cm in diameter.


Additional risks will be present in Georgian Bay and portions of Midwestern Ontario, encompassed in the Very Low risk area. Non-Severe thunderstorms will be possible through the Golden Horseshoe, the GTA, as well as portions of Eastern and Central Ontario.


Low Risk

Locations: Chatham, Goderich, Kincardine, Kitchener, Leamington, London, Owen Sound, Port Elgin, Sarnia, St. Thomas, Stratford, Tobermory, Windsor and Woodstock.

Threats: Heavy rainfall of 20 to 40 mm, the low risk for an isolated tornado, wind gusts up to 90 km/h, and hail 1 to 2 cm in diameter.


Very Low Risk

Locations: Barrie, Brantford, Collingwood, Midland, Newmarket, Orangeville, Orillia, Shelburne and Simcoe.

Threats: Heavy rainfall of 20 to 40 mm, wind gusts up to 90 km/h, and a low risk for hail 1 to 2 cm in diameter.


Non-Severe Risk

Locations: Bancroft, Barry's Bay, Bracebridge, Cobourg, Hamilton, Huntsville, Niagara Falls, Oakville, Oshawa, Parry Sound, Peterborough, St. Catharines, Toronto

Threats: Heavy rain and wind gusts up to 80 km/h.
